Objectives of the Course

To introduce the practices in Türkiye and in the world in the context of local governments and local politics, to discuss in detail the universal principles on which local government is based and to provide the opportunity to develop a comparative approach.

Course Content

Local elections, local democracy, local participation, local autonomy, European Charter of Local Self-Government, local governments in federal countries, local governments in unitary countries, local government associations, international partnerships, problems of local governments in Turkey and in the world.
