The objective of the “History of Turkish Administration” course is to analyze the Turkish administrative accumulation from a historical, political, economic, and social perspective. This will be achieved by examining the state tradition of the Turks, the state-politics-society relations, civil-military relations, significant issues, actors, significant events, and the structural changes they brought about, from the time before the Turks converted to Islam to the present.
The periods are assessed chronologically and geographically in this course. The primary subjects of the course are the social and administrative structure of the ancient Turks, the administrative structure of the first Turkish-Islamic states, the administrative structure of the Ottoman foundation and classical periods, the modernization process, and the administrative structure of the Republican period between 1923-1960. The “History of Turkish Administration” is designed to aid students in the examination of the Turkish administrative tradition that has developed over time, the social, economic, and societal factors that determine this accumulation, and the impact of these factors on the current administrative approach.
