Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to examine the relation between culture and politics, which are seen as different social planes, in the course of culture and politics and to investigate the cultural politics of modern Turkey.

Course Content

Examination of the formation of political institutions and political cultures; cultural processes; culture molds; contemporary theories of political culture. Developments and changes in the world; population, family, socio-economic indicators, political effects of factors such as urbanization. Universality and locality; multiculturalism and new political projects.

Learning Outcomes
1.To know different approaches which discuss the relationship between culture and politics theoretically.
2.To critically interpret the socio-political foundations of cultural production in different historical periods in modern Turkey.
3.To be able to understand political-economic processes and institutions in different societies in cultural contexts and cultural phenomena in political and economic contexts.
4.To have knowledge about the teachings and theories in the discipline.
5.Getting ready for exams in the field.
