Objectives of the Course

Specialization Field Course. The aim of the Social Security Law I course is to teach the fundamental concepts, functioning, and legal framework of social security systems; to help students understand the types of insurance, their coverage, and financing methods; to explain the regulations designed to protect individuals and society against social risks; and to equip students with the ability to evaluate the right to social security from an ethical and justice-based perspective.

Course Content

This course begins with the historical development, fundamental principles, and legal sources of social security; it examines the concept, scope, and financing of social insurance. Short-term and long-term insurance branches—such as work accidents, occupational diseases, sickness, maternity, disability, old age, and survivors’ insurance—are discussed in detail. In addition, unemployment insurance and general health insurance, as well as social security institutions in Turkey and international social security regulations, are also addressed
