Objectives of the Course

The aim of the Collective Bargaining course is to teach the theoretical foundations and applications of collective bargaining processes; to elaborate on topics such as labor and employer unions, collective bargaining techniques, dispute resolution methods, and the content of collective labor agreements, and to enable students to develop the ability to critically and analytically assess collective bargaining processes.

Course Content

This course begins with the definition, scope, historical development, and functions of collective bargaining. The roles of the parties (labor unions, employer unions), collective bargaining techniques, processes, and strategies are examined. Negotiations of collective labor agreements, dispute resolution methods, mediation, strikes, and lockouts are analyzed. Additionally, comparative examples of collective bargaining in Turkey and internationally are discussed.
