The aim of the Collective Labour Law course is to teach the legal framework regulating employees’ collective rights; to convey the processes of trade union organisation, collective bargaining, strikes, and lockouts; to examine the activities of trade unions and employers’ associations as well as their contributions to industrial democracy; and to equip students with the ability to critically evaluate the legal regulations in these areas.
This course begins with the definition, scope, and fundamental principles of collective labour law; it covers topics such as trade union rights and freedoms, the establishment and functioning of trade unions, union membership and resignation, confederations, the collective bargaining process, and collective labour agreements. In addition, it examines dispute resolution methods, strike and lockout procedures, national and international regulations on collective labour law, as well as ILO and European Union standards.
