Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to help students to get information about chemical properties of soil , organic and inorganic compounds of soil , chemical reactions and the relations between soil chemical properties and soil fertility.

Course Content

Chemical principles in soil, soil formation, soil organic matter, formation of clay minerals and classification, soil reaction, soil buffering system, soil salinization, redox potential and its importance, important ions in soil.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to describe chemical reactions in soil and its importance in terms of soil fertility.
2.To be able to tell the formation of soil organic matter and its importance in terms of soil properties.
3.To be able to evaluate the relations between plant nutrients and soil reaction and cation exchange in soil.
4.To be able to list the applications related with soil chemical properties to enhance soil fertility.
5.To be able to analyse the chemical properties of soil and evaluate the results.
