Objectives of the Course

The aim is to impart knowledge and skills related to the digging, description, and sampling of a soil profile (Pedon) in the field, along with the fundamental principles. Additionally, providing information on the cartographic materials and methods utilized in soil study and mapping. Includes the interpretation of soil maps for land capability and classification for suitability in irrigated agriculture. Lastly, offering guidance on writing and utilizing soil survey and mapping reports

Course Content

Purpose and applications of Soil Survey and Mapping, determination of possible soil boundaries using cartographic materials, creation of mapping units, stages of survey projects, types of soil maps and their suitability for various uses, stages of report writing for soil survey
