Objectives of the Course

Physiologic reaction of cultivated fishes under the stress and its effect to the aquaculture process will be presented to the students.

Course Content

The criteria determining the welfare of fish, fish stress response, pain and suffering case of fish, the interaction between fish diseases and fish welfare, cortisol and welfare relationship, water quality impact of welfare, determining the fish welfare from fin erosion and deformation, further details about the welfare of fish during transport and harvesting, a case for the welfare of aquarium fish, main points of the legislation for welfare of fish.
