In parallel with the course objectives, the aims of the course mainly includes to get the ss to improve scanning and skimming methods in reading, to enrich the vocabulary, to develop the ability to read and comprehend, to be able to discriminate between the main ideas and the supporting ones by finding out the differences, to get the readers to compare and contrast their lives with the ones in the texts that they read, to analyse and comment paragraphs, to be able to respond all sorts of questions related to the texts.
