The aim of this course is to introduce individual and institutional strategies for combating addiction, enabling students to understand the processes of prevention, treatment, and access to support services. Throughout the course, students will become familiar with organizations involved in addiction response, analyze help-seeking pathways, evaluate individual prevention and protection strategies, and develop awareness of the social impacts of addiction.
This course focuses on the types of addiction, their effects on individuals and society, national and international strategies for combating addiction, and the organizations that provide support—including public institutions, private services, and NGOs. It also covers help-seeking behaviors, referral processes for treatment, the functioning of social support systems, and individual prevention strategies aimed at reducing the risk of developing addiction.
