Objectives of the Course

It is aimed at gaining students general point of view about contemporary art history. In order to understand art history as a broad part of social and cultural panorama, The Art objects will be evaluated by means of social contexts where they are generated and presented and different theoretical models. Active participation of students in discussions in the class is supposed.

Course Content

This course analyzes the developments in Fine Arts and theories of art between the years 1950 and 2000. So, Eastern Art (America, Europe) will be regarded as a whole together with other regions in the world. Relationship and changes between contemporary art and social contexts being of particular importance at this period will be handled. Such issues as different interpretive models, including self revealing artists and their view about art objects generated at that period and the world will be addressed.
