Objectives of the Course

It is aimed at enriching the general culture knowledge in the field of tourism guiding by giving information about the important destinations in world tourism geography.

Course Content

By giving information about the definition, types and characteristics of destination, travel destination within the context of WTO (World Tourism Organization), tourism destinations will be compared witth each other acccording to the World competitiveness index. Furthermore, information will be given about UNESCO and World Cultural Heritages.

5.He/ she gets information about the main travel destinations situated in the regions of Middle and East Europe, West Europe and North America.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
Preliminary information will be given about the objectives, importance, scope, content, measurement methods and sources of the course. World Tourism Organization data will be examined.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of North American countries (Canada, USA and Mexico).
Week 3 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Central American countries (Guatemala, Belize and El Salvador).
Week 4 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Central American countries (Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama).
Week 5 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Caribbean countries (Bahamas, Cuba and Jamaica).
Week 6 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Caribbean countries (Puerto Rico, Haiti and the Dominican Republic).
Week 7 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of South American countries (Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador).
Week 8 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of South American countries (Peru, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana).
Week 9 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of South American countries (Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay).
Week 10 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of South American countries (Chile, Argentina and Uruguay).
Week 11 - Theoretical
Students will have information about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan).
Week 12 - Theoretical
Students will have information about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of Central Asian countries (Turkmenistan and Tajikistan).
Week 13 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of East Asian countries (Mongolia, China, Hong Kong and Macau).
Week 14 - Theoretical
Students will learn about the geographical features, tourism destinations and tourism statistics of South Asian countries (Pakistan, India and Thailand).
