Objectives of the Course

The purpose of course is to use basic computer skills and basic functions of the computer, word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation programs, and gain the basic skills needed to use Internet browsers.

Course Content

For the purpose of the course; information will be given about computer components, Office software,computer Networks and development of computer literacy.

Learning Outcomes
1.Recognizes the hardware and software components.
2.Understands the logic of technological materials in digital communications.
3.By using word processing program, the student will have the information of writing and formulating the texte .
4.Has the information on entering data with account and table program, making transactions and calculations on the data and creating a graph of the data.
5.Knows the technical concepts associated with the Internet. Understands the structure of the network, obtain information on issues like viruses and security and characteristics of the information found on the Internet.
6.Has the information on the importance of information, the reliability of information on the Internet, information pollution, the use of information and about copyright and ethic.

BASIC INFORMATION: Explanation of the concepts of technology, data, information, knowledge and information Technologies

Examples of important technological developments developed throughout history and discussion of their effects on our lives
Week 2 - Theoretical
BASIC CONCEPTS: Introduction of concepts related to computers, history of computers and computer types

Discussion of the areas where computers are used and their effects on our lives

COMPUTER HARDWARE: Introduction of computer internal hardware and operating logics (Motherboard, Processor, Memory)

Physical introduction of computer hardware and installation and removal on the motherboard
Week 4 - Theoretical
COMPUTER HARDWARE: Introduction of computer internal hardware and operating logic (Hard Disc, Display Card, Network Card, Sound Card, Optical Drive, Power Supply, Cooler)

Physical introduction of computer hardware and installation and removal on the motherboard
Week 5 - Theoretical
COMPUTER HARDWARE: Introduction of computer external hardware and operating logics (Input and Output Units)

COMPUTER SOFTWARE: Introducing the concepts related to software, open and closed source software, system and application software

Installation, updating and removal of application and system software

OPERATING SYSTEMS: Introduction of operating systems, tasks of operating systems, desktop and mobile operating systems

To learn the usage differences between command prompt operating systems and graphical interface operating systems

WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM: Introduction of Windows Operating System, historical development process, functions. Windows 10 and 11 features

Introduction of graphical user interface in operating systems (Desktop, Taskbar, Start Menu, Notification Area, Windows Explorer, Settings, File types)
Week 9 - Theoretical
TEXT PROCESSORS: Text processing software, Microsoft Word software and its usage

Text creation, formatting, copying and moving text, file filling operations, paragraph settings, table preparation, data sorting, etc.
Week 10 - Theoretical
SPREADSHEET SOFTWARE: Spreadsheet software, Microsoft Excel software and usage

Use of cell addresses, data entry, use of basic formulas, data analysis.

PRESENTATION SOFTWARE: Presentation preparation software, Microsoft Powerpoint software and usage
Week 11 - Practice
Creating slides, determining slide layout, adding transition effects and animation to slides, using themes, presentation preparation techniques
Week 12 - Theoretical
NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES: Network Types, Intranet and Internet Concepts, World Wide Web, URL, IP / MAC Addresses, Google Search Techniques

Internet usage, settings of Antivirus and Firewall Software for secure internet, use of Google Search Operators

INTERNET SECURITY: Security hazards on the Internet, malicious software
