Objectives of the Course

To present basic economic concepts. To analyze the media market to see the households, companies and industries facing each other and handling media products.

Course Content

The role of written and visual media in the Turkish media economy, the role of the media in the Turkish media economy, the theory of consumer behavior, the theory of the firm, the market and the forms of work, market and welfare, public sector and economy, firm behavior, industrial organization, factor markets, media groups.

Microeconomic concepts (economics, demands, needs, goods and services, scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, demand, supply and economic systems), economic decision making units
Week 2 - Theoretical
Demand and determinants of supply, obtaining demand and supply curves, changes in demand and supply
Week 3 - Theoretical
