Objectives of the Course

To give students knowledge about the historical development and transformation processes experienced by the press in the world and Turkey.

Course Content

Understand these processes by examining the technological, cultural, political and economic processes affecting the birth and development of the press in the world. To learn the first examples of the press in our own geography, the historical processes of the press starting from the Ottoman period and the effects of the press on the social life.

Learning Outcomes
1.Learns the first examples of print and press in the world and their influences on social, economic and political life.
2.Knows the process of arrival of the printing house in the Ottoman Empire.
3.Knows the first press examples in the Ottoman Empire and the press regime in this period.
4.Recognizes the press samples that existed during the establishment phase of the Republic and analyzes the role of the press in the establishment phase.
5.Discusses the structure and functioning of the press during the single party period.
6.Knows the features and structure of the press during the multi-party regime transition and Democratic Party period.
7.Explains the changes and transformations that took place under the military influence during the period of coups.
8.Discusses the transformation of the press in the 1980s, monopolization, and the period of conglomeration.
