Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to give information about the history of humour and caricature. Caricature is an effective tool used to make opposition both in the world and in our country. In this course this aspect of the humour will be discussed.

Course Content

The definitions of humour, the origins of humour, the historical development of humour, the use of humour in communication are main topics in this study.

1.Learns about the definition of humour and what it covers.
2.Recognizes different types of humour in different ways, such as making and presenting.
3.Learns the types and samples of humour in the ancient period, in Ottoman Empire and in first years of the Republic.
4.Learns humorous elements in different geographies and cultures other than our own geography.
5.Learns prominent headlines and examine examples of Turkish humour.
6.Understands the functions of humour besides its comedy.
7.Be able to evaluate humorous items as a media element.
