The course combines training in the use of digital production tools with training in storytelling. This is further explored in analytical discussions about the student’s own and other’s production. The course also introduces the student to theories of narrative in the field of media studies. The emphasis is on exploring the role of visual narratives in contemporary media production, not least the ability to take on the role of media producer. This course also provides an understanding of computer-based media’s role as a technological and cultural expressions.
Teaching consists of lectures, seminars, practical exercises and project work, both individually and in groups. Theoretical and practical elements are integrated in order to develop the ability to reflect and analyse the relationships between them. Students will produce a range of individual images and movies, discuss and analyse these and, at the end of the course, use these experiences to conduct a major project in teams.
