Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts, practices, and ethical principles of journalism. Topics include the definition of news, news values, sources, types of journalism, ethical standards, and news production in digital media environments. The course also aims to develop students’ critical thinking skills regarding the news-making process and enable them to evaluate the quality and reliability of journalistic content.

Course Content

This course explores the fundamental concepts, historical development, and contemporary transformation of journalism. Key topics include the definition of news, newsworthiness criteria, types and sources of news, news writing techniques, journalistic ethics and objectivity, visual and audio presentation of news, and the impact of digitalization on journalism. Students will gain insight into the processes of news production in both traditional and digital media environments, learning how to evaluate and produce quality journalism.
