1.Informations about the genre ‘drama’ and ‘theatre’ and having command of the basic drama terms
2.To distunguish the genre ‘drama’ from the genres ‘epic’ and ‘poetry’
3.To differentiate the Aristotelian, Shakespearean, epic, documentary theatre and the theatre of the absurd
4.To explain the changing processes of the German drama concerning the history of German literature
5. To identify the characteristics of the German Enlightenement drama
6.To anaylze and discuss the specific position all figures in the period of Enlightenment
7.The ability to produce a text on German drama with an analytical and critical approach

Introduction of the course program and course materials. The drama definition terms. (The drama, dramatization, dramaturge, External and internal form of the drama.)

Forms of drama. Structure of the classical drama.

Drama Theories: Aristotle: On the tragedy. Friedrich Schiller: On the tragic art. The pyramidal structure of the drama by Gustav Freytag Gotthold Ephraim Lessing Hamburgische Dramaturgy (1767)
Week 4 - Theoretical
Bertolt Brecht The Epic Theatre (c. 1936) Open and closed drama
Week 5 - Theoretical
Genres of drama. (Tragedy, comedy, Satyrspiel, Passion and Easter plays, Commedia dell'arte, Shakespeare Theater.)
Week 6 - Theoretical
Bürgerliches Trauerspiel, Historical drama, Revolutionary drama, lyric drama, naturalistic drama, illısion Theater, epic theater, Documentary theater, Parable Theater, reading drama, one-act.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Elements of the dramatic. Dialogue, monologue, protagonist, chorus, messenger report, wall show, estates clause, the three units. Analyzing a drama/scene.
