Objectives of the Course

To provide pre-service teachers to understand the nature of mathematics and the meaning of learning mathematics

Course Content

The nature of mathematics and mathematical thinking; the meaning of learning and teaching mathematics; aim and basic principles of teaching mathematics; history of teaching mathematics; reflections of learning and teaching approaches on teaching mathematics; basic skills in teaching mathematics; in-class application examples; current trends and problems in teaching mathematics; components of effective mathematics teaching; social, cultural and economic perspectives of teaching mathematics.
