Objectives of the Course

In this course, it is aimed to provide students to gain knowledge about mathematical modelling and modeling processes, work on different modelling problems, develop their modelling problems, learn about modelling applications in class, design modelling applications, examine and evaluate solution approaches and thinking processes that students demonstrate while solving different modelling problems. Also, it is aimed to enable students to develop modelling practices and have knowledge and skills to execute these applications in their teaching practices with the light of the knowledge and experience they have gained in this course.

Course Content

Mathematical modeling and problem solving; models in mathematics instruction and modelling process; modelling cycle (identification of the problem, manipulation, prediction and verification), model development steps; principles of model development; the application of modeling activities in mathematics classes and the role of teachers; preparing mathematical modelling activities and monitoring students' mathematical thinking processes.
