Objectives of the Course

To provide preservice teachers to construct the concept of multivariable function and to develop procedural skills for this concept, to construct R ^ n's topology concept, concepts of limit and continuity, concepts of function sequence and series and to develop procedural skills for these concepts, to construct derivative, directional derivative, partial derivative and to develop skills for the geometric interpretation of the partial derivative, and the develop procedural skills for the development of higher order derivatives and chain rule.

Course Content

The concept of multivariable function and topological structure of R ^ n, function domain and range sets, function drawings. The concept of limit in two variable functions and its applications, the concept of continuity. Partial derivative , chain rule, local extreme values, absolute extreme values and their applications in two variable functions, Lagrange multiples, function sequences and series . The concept of double integral, volume calculations with double integrals.
