Objectives of the Course

To have teacher candidates knowledge about algebra, algebraic thinking and basic algebraic concepts, to increase the knowledge and skills of teaching algebraic concepts; to have an idea about the students' knowledge about these subjects and to make them related to daily life and other lessons

Course Content

Algebraic thinking, the importance of algebraic thought in teaching mathematics; pre-algebraic period; arithmetic-algebra relation; generalized arithmetic and functional thinking; basic algebra concepts; different notations in algebra teaching; teaching of variables, algebraic expressions, equations and equations, linear equations, identities and inequalities (using the appropriate teaching materials and strategies, etc.); student knowledge about these subjects (understanding, interpreting, thinking about the difficulties experienced by students, mistakes, misconceptions of concepts and their reasons); related to daily life and other subjects
