Objectives of the Course

To provide pre-service teachers to construct basic concepts of mathematics such as set, relation, function, limit, continuity and derivative, and to develop operational abilities for these concepts

Course Content

Sets and number systems. Cartesian, relation and function concepts. Function types, exponential and logarithmic functions. Limits, continuity concepts and types of discontinuities in single variable functions. The concept of derivative and the rules of derivative. Higher order derivatives. Geometric interpretation of derivative and applications of derivative in various fields. Drawing graphs of functions.
