The aim of this course is to define the characteristics of the special surgical patient, to learn the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative characteristics of the special surgical patient, and to learn the evidence-based practices in the special surgical patient care.
Definition and classification of special patient groups, surgical care of the obese patient, surgical care of the pregnant patient, surgical care of the geriatric patient, surgical care of the pediatric patient, surgical care of the patient with comorbidities/infectious diseases, surgical care of patients with language barriers and physical disabilities, evidence-based practices in the surgical care of special patients.
