Objectives of the Course

By enabling the student to recognize the cultural characteristics and cultural changes of the society in which he/she lives; To gain knowledge and skills about intercultural approaches in midwifery care, emphasizing the importance of cultural differences and their effects in midwifery care in the protection and development of the health of women, newborns, and children as primary, family and community health as secondary.

1.To be able to define the concept and theories of culture
2.To be able to have knowledge about traditions and customs and existing cultural structures; cultural attitudes, prejudices and discrimination
3.To be able to comprehend the importance of culture in care giving and the effect of cultural values
4.To be able to recognize the cultural characteristics of the society in which the individual he / she cares for lives
5.To be able to understand the impact of one's own value judgments and belief systems on one's life
6.To be able to gain intercultural care giving knowledge and skills by taking into account the issues of meeting care needs specific to the culture of the individual / family / society
7.Understand gender, ethnic and generational differences
