Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is that to strengthen the ties between the university and the society by using the knowledge, skills, and knowledge acquired by midwife candidates throughout their education life, to raise awareness about humanitarian, social, economic, etc. problems and various issues and problems in the society, especially migration and disasters, disabled people, and disadvantaged groups, to ensure the development of human, social, cultural, moral values and skills with some volunteering activities they will participate and perform, to ensure that they take part in volunteering activities for a period of time within the scope of a plan to be prepared in advance in a volunteering area they will choose, and to ensure the implementation, reporting, and presentation of the projects related to the volunteering activities they carry out.

Course Content

Contributing to one of the most important duties of the university, serving the society; To strengthen the ties between the university and the society by using the knowledge, skills and knowledge acquired by students throughout their education life, To ensure the sustainability of the knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired by students by contributing to the strengthening of social awareness and civil society studies.

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines the basic concepts of management, organization, volunteering and volunteer management,
2.Understands the aims and principles of institutions and organizations such as public institutions, local governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) where volunteering activities can be carried out, and their importance in terms of the development of social awareness,
3.Defines which ethical principles and rules should be followed in voluntary work,
4.Explains the procedures to be followed for participation in volunteer work in public institutions, local administrations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs),
5.Defines the problems related to risk groups and immigrants in the society and produces solutions to carry out awareness studies in the society,
6.Can discuss social problems,
7.Projects volunteering activities, the place / institution / organization / etc. where the project is chosen voluntarily applies on the ground,
8.Presents the project prepared in the chosen field of volunteering using presentation techniques,
9.Criticizes and evaluates all projects prepared in the chosen field of volunteering and its own project.

Week 1 - Theoretical
- Basic concepts of management, organization and volunteering management
Week 2 - Theoretical
- Basic Volunteering Areas (Disaster and Emergency, Environment, Education and Culture, Sports, Health and Social Services etc.), public institutions where volunteering activities can be carried out, local administrations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
Week 3 - Theoretical
- Ethical, moral, religious, traditional values and principles in volunteering work
Week 4 - Theoretical
- Risk Groups in Society and Volunteering; Immigrants and Volunteering

- Examples of volunteering practices domestic and abroad
Week 6 - Theoretical
- Discussing which areas can be worked within the scope of volunteering for the current problems of society - Determination of Groups

- Preparing and developing a project draft on volunteer work that can be done individually or in groups
