Objectives of the Course

To ensure comprehending of, clinical characteristics of neurological diseases, mechanism formations of symptoms and signs that reveal in human body, measurement and assessment methods that used in neurological rehabilitation, application of neurophysiologic based techniques according to the case characteristics, to improve clinical decision making and problem solving skills in neurologic rehabilitation.

Course Content

Clinical characteristics of common neurologic disease such as movement disorders, demyelinating diseases, neuromuscular diseases, clinical characteristics of upper and lower motor neuron diseases in terms of physiotherapy programs, patient-oriented measurement- assessment and neurophysiologic based treatment program, prepare project.

Learning Outcomes
1.All graduates can assess and plan physiotherapy and rehabilitation protocols by using quantitative and qualitative principals and concepts in physiotherapy and rehabilitation field.
2.All graduates apply physiotherapy and rehabilitation program by using further level knowledge and skills with in the order of systematically and safely ethic rules; finish or change treatment protocols if necessary
3.All graduates have innovative behavior to protect public health; contribute to produce health politics for the changing and varying necessities on physiotherapy and rehabilitation field.
4.All graduates organize the physiotherapy and rehabilitation services effectively and sufficiently, direct the working processes to go on developing quality and organization function; solve the problems with the evidence based knowledge.
5.All graduates have ability to execute the professional and academic studies independently, have responsibility to work multidisciplinary with other colleagues via effective communication skills as a team worker.

Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
Characteristics and mechanism formation of spinal cord injuries.
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Pathophysiology of spasticity, assessment and inhibitory methods.
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Clinical characteristics of complete and incomplete spinal cord injuries according to the levels and treatment methods.
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
Components of normal movements and description, pathophysiology, assessment methods of ataxia.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Neurophysiologic based treatment methods and applications specific for ataxia type.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
Clinical characteristics of multiple sclerosis, measurement- assessment methods and rehabilitation of multiple sclerosis.
