Objectives of the Course

The objectives of the course are to explain basic concepts in pragmatics, to introduce pragmatic methods and practices, to compare different scholars' conception of language and pragmatic meaning.

Course Content

Development of pragmatics as a distinct field, orthographic transcription, reference and deixis, inference, presupposition and entailment, co-operative principle and implicatures, speech acts, politeness and interaction, face-to-face communication.

6.The student will be able to prepare materials to teach situation-bound utterances in English.
