Objectives of the Course

Reading and critisizing articles written in English language teaching field, academic writing, doing a literature review, conducting a research in the field; Analyzing current academic research, scholarship, and debates in broad areas of English language teaching. These areas include, but are not limited to, teaching English to Turkish speakers, linguistics, language acquisition, the Turkish educational system, technology and language instruction, and global Englishes.

Course Content

Approaches to different student needs such as course design, second / foreign / international / special purpose / English as academic language in English Language Teaching; current applications such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-oriented, integrative language teaching, multiple intelligence and holistic language approach; second / foreign language teaching and the importance of culture in language teaching, the use of technology in language classes, the place of communication in the developing world and intercultural interaction.
