Objectives of the Course

To inform students about the Turkish modernization process and to raise awareness in line with Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions shaped in this direction, to explain the people who played a role in the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, especially Atatürk, and their struggles, the conditions under which the Turkish War of Independence was won, how the struggle for independence and sovereignty resulted in victory, and to understand the basic philosophy of the Republic of Turkey, and thus respecting human rights and social values. to reintegrate individuals into society. The aim of the course, which is basically based on teaching the birth and development of Modern Turkey, is to provide accurate information about the Kemalist Thought System, the History of the Republic of Turkey and the threats to Turkey and the practices of the Kemalist Thought System; To raise and strengthen the Turkish youth in an indivisible integrity with their country, nation and state in line with the Kemalist Thought System and to unite them around national goals; to raise individuals who are rational, contemporary, honorable, hardworking, full of love for the country and nation, and have a personality consisting of tolerance and humanistic ideas. In line with the developments of the twentieth century, to teach university students about the recent history of Turkey and to enable them to connect with the past in the light of accurate information. To give the Turkish Youth the responsibility of transferring our national and contemporary values from generation to generation, and to make them adopt our Republic and that they are the carriers of its achievements

Course Content

In this course, the purpose of the History of Ataturk's Principles and Revolutions course and the concept of revolution, efforts to save the Ottoman Empire, intellectual movements, a general overview of the reasons that led to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Revolution, the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, World War I and Fronts, Mudros. Armistice Agreement, the situation of the country against the invasions and the reaction of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, Mustafa Kemal Pasha's arrival in Samsun, organization through congresses, Kuvayi Milliye and National Pact. The opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and its management of the War of Independence, the War of Independence until the Battle of Sakarya, the Battle of Sakarya and the Great Offensive, the War of Independence in the field of education and culture, the War of Independence in the social and economic field, and the process from Mudanya to Lausanne will be covered.
