Objectives of the Course

To analyze the basic nutritional principles of athletes before, during and after training or competition, and to evaluate nutritional practices, body perception and eating disorders to increase performance.

Course Content

This lesson; Definition of Nutrition in Sports and Exercise, Who is a Sports Dietitian?, Energy metabolism in exercise and sports, Energy sources in athlete diets, Other nutritional sources in athlete diets, Performance nutrition, Evaluation of the nutritional status of athletes, Training and nutrition, The importance of Overtraining and Nutrition in Sports, Competition or match Nutrition during periods of recovery, Nutrition during the recovery period after competition or match, Immune system and nutrition in sports, Effects of different environmental and living conditions on performance in athletes and nutritional strategies, Eating disorders and body perception in athletes, Dietary Supplements for Athletes; Includes topics.

General nutrition principles, energy sources for muscle and exercise metabolism, healthy nutrition for fitness and sports, nutrition sources for athletes
Week 2 - Theoretical
Essential nutrients (carbohydrates, protein and fat)
Week 3 - Theoretical
Fluid balance and requirement, electrolytes, thermoregulation methods
Week 4 - Theoretical
Auxiliary nutrients, vitamins (organic regulators) and minerals (inorganic regulators), essential minerals and trace minerals
Week 5 - Theoretical
Nutritional supplements (ergogenic aids), evaluation of sports supplements
Week 6 - Theoretical
Nutritional effects, absorption and digestion in high performance
Week 7 - Theoretical
Timing of fluid intake and energy
Week 8 - Theoretical
Nutrition before, during and after the competition (interim evaluation)
Week 9 - Theoretical
Adequate distribution of oxygen, nutrient utilization and energy constraints
Week 10 - Theoretical
Situations affecting nutritional needs (travel, high altitude, gender, age, body composition and weight), weight gain and loss with appropriate nutrition and exercise
