Objectives of the Course

Basic concepts related to rhythm and dance, music and movement rhythm, dance tools and materials, their characteristics, dance exercises, posture exercises, walks, jumps, hops, and gallops, rhythm, melody, and music selection, individual and partner exercises, waltz, tango, jazz, step sequences related to dance, compositions, teaching of concepts, techniques, and compositions related to rhythm and dance.

Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
The role and importance of basic rhythm and dance lesson in education
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Exercises concerning about perception of rhythm and adapted to the movement; unit and half-note
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Basic floor exercises; quarter and eight note values and execution with instruments.
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
Teaching of the basic dance steps with note variations and accompaniment to the movement with instruments.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Labile and stabile movements and note variations and accompaniment to the movement with instruments.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
Basic leaps, jumps, balances and pivots samples; dictate studies with 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 measure
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
Basic of choreography; selection of music and concerning some samples of analysis.
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
Gallop, hopping, and working on horse movements by covering distance. Maneuvers, stretches, and application of these movements in various step forms/evaluation.
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
Choreographic studies and orchestral studies with percussion
Week 10 - Theoretical & Practice
Ronde studies with partner and group
Week 11 - Theoretical & Practice
Ronde studies with partner; introduction of Turkish halting rhythm and teaching of 5/8 halting rhythm.
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
Turkish dance samples and teaching of 7/8 halting rhythm.
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
Choreographic studies and dictate studies with all note values which have been learned
Week 14 - Theoretical & Practice
Practicing learned basic movements using connecting movements. Various starting and ending poses.
