It is aimed to give the student general information about Turkish Music History and culture.
Historical roots of Turkish music culture; Cultural and musical elements that belonged to the lives of Turkish societies since Central Asia, their interactions with the surrounding music cultures; The interactions of the Turks with the Muslim cultures of Mesopotamian music cultures in Anatolia and the ancient Anatolian lands; Musical culture in the process of accepting Islam; The theory of music, instruments, genres and major composers during the Ottoman Empire; Ottoman music writings, repertoire and speech; Musical reflections of increasing reationships with the West within the framework of Westernalization movements, the first developments in Turkey for western music, music institutions and structural changes in their formation; Music in the Republican period, Turkish music revolution, multi-cultural music structure and new music formations in Anatolia.
