Objectives of the Course

To make the theoretical connection between popular culture and popular music, to understand the roots of today's popular music genres by examining the historical evolution of popular music, to understand the functions of popular music in the social context, to provide the ability to distinguish the characteristics of genres and styles within the framework of popular music.

Course Content

The concept of popular music is emphasized and the development process of popular music from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day is analyzed on the basis of processes, artists and genres, and studies are carried out for the correct perception of today's musical atmosphere.
