Objectives of the Course

To examine the history of Turkish music and the history of Western music in a connected way and to provide students with knowledge about the level of relationship between these two musical cultures

Course Content

In this course, the history of Turkish music and the history of Western music will be discussed by making comparisons between each other in periodic and historical processes. In this way, the effects of both musical worlds on each other and the connections of this effect with social and political life will be tried to be determined. With a multidisciplinary perspective, this course will contribute significantly to the scientific vision of the students to determine the relationship or lack of relationship between different musical genres. In addition, seeing this relationship will help students move away from scientific orthadoxia, which is an important problem for researchers, and will help them gain knowledge about different musical genres.
