Objectives of the Course

The examination and comparison of sources in the context of historical musicology will reveal the scientific side of music, while the transformations of the society in which it is lived will be obtained by determining and researching the cultural perspective. Music will be explained through the history of culture and modernization from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic will be discussed with the discipline of social sciences.

Course Content

Explaining music only as a musical activity is incomplete in terms of revealing its social aspect. The student's interdisciplinary transitions will be facilitated by mastering the literature at the academic level and the factors that make up the music will be discussed with the modernization theory and the changes that Turkish music has undergone will be discussed with period analysis.
