Objectives of the Course

rban History deals with the historical journey of the urban phenomenon, its evolution over time, in its various stages, and pursues an in-depth understanding of the city. In addition to providing participants with a historical urban perspective, the course also aims to examine the city in a critical light as an intellectual, artistic and political field.

Course Content

In the context of the course, the transition from the Paleolithic period to the Neolithic period, the political economy of settled life, the urban revolution, the Polis in Antiquity, the coastal cities of Western Anatolia, the city of the Middle Ages, the city in the Ottoman Empire, the 20th century as a century of urbanization, Republic Turkey. Contents such as Urban issues of Turkey, Cities, and Utopia will be included.
