Objectives of the Course

This course provides a framework for understanding the impacts of globalization on the concepts of management and governance by focusing on their fundamental characteristics and distinctions. While management traditionally signifies the function of directing and controlling organizations, governance takes a broader perspective, emphasizing stakeholder participation and transparency. The course examines the global evolution of governance, assessing the effects of globalization processes on this evolution and exploring international governance documents. In this context, students will gain the ability to analyze the role of international organizations, global governance processes, and their impacts on state governance systems. Additionally, the course aims to shed light on governance practices in central and local administrations in Turkey, aiming to highlight the changes occurring in this context. It provides students with the skills to analyze the interaction of these practices with global trends and assess Turkey's contribution to the global governance framework. Furthermore, the course delves into the concept of e-government, focusing on its definition and objectives. It evaluates the impacts of e-government on governance and assesses changes in management practices. Course Content

This course delves into the fundamental characteristics of management and governance, emphasizing the impact of globalization on these concepts. While management traditionally implies directing organizations in a conventional sense, governance takes on a broader perspective, highlighting stakeholder participation and transparency. The course examines the global evolution of governance, evaluating how globalization processes have influenced this evolution. It explores governance practices in Turkey, emphasizing their interaction with global trends. Additionally, the course defines the concept of e-government and assesses the impact of globalization on e-government applications. This provides students with the ability to understand and analyze the role of digital transformation in a global context.Overall, this course aims to equip students with the skills to comprehend global changes, evaluate them from a governance perspective, and understand the global impact of digital tools like e-government.
