To ensure that students have basic knowledge about science and the philosophy of science, to design, conduct, and report a scientific study (article, paper, report, book), to acquire the basic logic of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and to instill a questioning and investigative way of thinking.

| 1. | Understands the stages of the scientific method, types of research, and the processes of establishing hypotheses and defining problems. |
| 2. | Can correctly apply research question formulation, method selection, universe and sample determination and data collection techniques. |
| 3. | Applies techniques such as surveys, interviews, observations, document analysis, and uses basic statistical and content analysis methods. |
| 4. | Recognizes unethical practices such as plagiarism, data fabrication, manipulation, etc., and plans his/her research according to ethical standards. |
| 5. | Prepares reports in accordance with scientific writing rules such as APA/Chicago; can convey findings verbally and visually. |
