To demonstrate the implications of feed structure and feed processing technics on the nutrient digestibility and quality and quantity of animal products in food producing animals.
To assess the influences of feed particle size (coarse and fine) and feed form (mash, crumble and pellet) and feed processing applications (high pressure, water vapor, pelleting pressure, high temperature regarding friction through dies) on the feed intake, development of digestive organs, microbial profile of intestine, digestive enzymatic activity and production performance of agriculture animals.
| Prof. Mehmet BOZKURT |
| 1. | To be able to gain subject knowledge of profession in theory and practice in learning process with additional information regarding economics of feed production and also its environmental implications. |
| 2. | Raise awareness regarding the pros and cons of high temperature and pressure applications during feed processing. |
| 3. | The physical characteristics of feed stuffs as well as the nutrient composition would be taken into consideration when evaluating their quality aspects. |
| 4. | Considering that coarseness of particle size and form of the feed significantly affect development of gastrointestinal system and intestinal microbial profile, much attention would be paid for feed structure in the feed mills. |
| 5. | Effect of the feed structure on the nutrition quality of the feed. |
| 1. | M.W.A. Verstegen and S. Tamminga 1998. Physical quality of pelleted feed. |
