Objectives of the Course

This course aims to equip students with an analytical perspective by examining the major conflict zones in the Middle East since World War I, their historical developments, and the roles of regional and international actors.

Course Content

This course examines the key conflicts in the Middle East from World War I to the present within a historical and thematic framework. It explores state formation, wars, foreign interventions, proxy wars and regional power balances. Students analyze the causes of these conflicts and evaluate regional dynamics through theoretical approaches.

1.The student gains analytical knowledge about the historical and current background of conflicts in the Middle East.

4.The student produces a written academic study by analyzing a Middle Eastern conflict using the case study method.
