This course aims to examine how energy resources (oil, natural gas, and renewables) function as both a source of power and vulnerability in international relations. Focusing on concepts such as energy security, pipeline diplomacy, competition over resources, and the strategic orientations of major powers, the course enables students to conduct in-depth analyses at both conceptual and empirical levels through case studies centered on the Middle East, the Caspian–Caucasus region, Russia–Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Africa.
The course Energy Geopolitics and International Politics examines the strategic role of energy resources (oil, natural gas, and renewables) in international relations and analyzes energy competition among major powers. It focuses on energy dynamics and rivalries in key regions such as the Middle East, the Caspian, Russia, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Africa. The course also addresses the geopolitical implications of renewable energy and climate policies, as well as Turkey’s energy policy. The content is enriched with case studies, discussions, and applied assignments to foster analytical and critical thinking skills
