Objectives of the Course

Giving the information about midwifery that is necessary for the protection and improvment of Mother, fetus and newborn's physical, psycho-social health during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period and making it possible to follow the current approaches and the innovations towards these issues

Course Content

Normal labor, the changes on the mother during the birth, midwifery care during birth , maternal and fetal assessment during birth, postpartum, normal newborn.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to explain the physiology of normal birth
2.To be able to evaluate the status of the mother and the fetus in labor
3.To be able to identify the needs of the mother and newborn care and plan appropriate care
4.To be able to apply initiatives for the mother's comfort and prepare mother for birth
5.To be able to manage the birth of the baby and the placenta
6.To be able to know physiology of the newborn, evaluate newborn and meet the needs of care
7.To be able to identify postpartum period, to evaluate and follow-up the mother in physical and psychological aspects, make applications to improve the health of the mother and baby
8.to be able to explain the effects of cesarean section on the woman and the newborn
9.To be able to integrate issues related to the educational process and improve independent learning, reading, studying and research skills
