Objectives of the Course

The objective of the course is to recognize the situation of Uighur Turkic language among the Turkic languages and explain the basic informations about Old Uighur Turkic grammar

Course Content

Situation of Uighur Turkic among the Turkic languages, Alphabet, Basic phonology and morphology features, Basic texts and publications, Text analyses of Uighur Turkic.

Learning Outcomes
1.When a student completes this course, he/she will know where Old Uighur Turkic belongs in classification of Turkic languages
2.At the end of the course, the student will know the phonetic structure of the Old Uighur Turkic in detail.
3.At the end of the course, the student will know the morphological structure of the Old Uighur Turkic in detail.
4.To be able to follow the developments of Old Uighur period’s phonetic and morphologic features beginning from Kokturk periods to Old Uighur period
5.To be able to compare the phonetic mophologic and lexical features of Old Uighur period with today’s Turkish dialects
