Objectives of the Course

1. To introduce texts of the Old Anatolian Turkish to the students. 2. To teach phonetic, morphological and lexical features of the Old Anatolian Turkish. 3. To enable correct reading and comprehending of texts of the Old Anatolian Turkish and translating them into modern Turkish. 4. To teach translating texts of this period to contemporary Turkish 5. To enable distinguishing the texts written in Old Anatolian Turkish and Classical Ottoman

The occurrence, development and characteristics of Old Anatolian Turkish; the place of this period among other historical vernacular; the analysis of 13- 15 century Works such as Yusuf u Züleyha and the stories of Dede Korkut
