Objectives of the Course

To explain the historical transformation of Ottoman Ulama, the reasons that affect the scientific productivity, and the relationship between the political power and the salary system. To examine the effects of these relations on Ottoman development.

Course Content

The Ottoman ulema is not a political, social activity and scientific productivity that remained at the same level in Ottoman history. The Ottoman scholars also experienced significant changes and transformations, such as the other scholars of Islamic history. These changes and transformations have had important effects on Ottoman political and social system. It is also a history of how the Ottoman political administration was modernized.

6.Students will be able to comprehend the effect of political power and salary system on the productivity of the Ottoman Ulama.
