Objectives of the Course

One of the most important events that characterize the Middle Ages, is to introduce the sources and chronicles of the Crusades that have lasted for nearly two centuries against the Islamic world of Christian Europe and to show how these sources reflect the periods of the Crusades.

Course Content

1095 With the resolution of the Council of Clermont, the Crusades, which took place for about two centuries, with the slogan of salvaging Jerusalem against the Islamic world, gave rise to important results both for the Christian European society and for the Islamic world representing the East. The political, socio-economic, military, cultural and religious influences created by the two worlds, which can be described as the longest-standing encounter of the two worlds, have been written by the authors who have participated in these battles or witnessed the period. The political, religious and ideological factors that the authors of this period have had in relation to the society they belong to, lead them to exhibit a lack of objectivity.
