Objectives of the Course

The main aim is to teach, evaluate and discuss some of the currently debates in sociological theory

Course Content

The macro basis of the new approaches in sociology: structuralism, structural-functionalism and Marxist sociology; The micro basis of the new approaches in sociology: Symbolic Interactionism, Phenomenological Sociology and Ethnomethodology; Post-structuralism: Jacques Derrida and Deconstruction, Roland Barthes; Michel Foucault-The archeology of knowledge, Michel Foucault-Genealogy; Postmodernism: Lyotard, Baudrillad-Consumer Society, Baudrillad-Simulations.
